About Maggie
I’m pretty sure I was born loving fashion - dresses was one of my first words and by the age of two I was giving tours of my closet)- but my life took a few twists and turns before it became my career as well as my passion.
Before becoming a designer, I earned a Master's degree in education and spent nearly a decade working at several wonderful nonprofits and teaching in the Chicago Public Schools-a career which was both challenging and rewarding. This experience continues to shape my view of the world.
During a summer off from teaching, I decided to take a chance and took an intensive course at London College of Fashion. The creative environment of the school was so inspiring, it drove home what I always knew-I wanted to pursue a career in fashion.
Back in Chicago, I was hired to do fashion illustrations, giving me the confidence that there was a place for me in this industry. From there I began creating my own designs
Over the next few years I pursued my dream, moving to New York, and creating two successful brands in the fashion industry- The Giving Bride and The Lingerie Selection.
As the owner and creative director of The Giving Bride, I create beautiful, ethically produced, bridal lingerie while giving a portion of each purchase price back to women’s charities combining my love of fashion and philanthropy.
The Giving Bride has shown on the runway at Lingerie Fashion Week, been featured online and in print for major media outlets including WWD, Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle, People StyleWatch, E! News, Elle, and Teen Vogue. It is sold nationwide in luxury lingerie boutiques and has been purchased by influencers and A-List celebrities.
Seeing a gap in the market, I founded The Lingerie Selection, which was born out of a desire to build a trade show geared toward independent designers.
As The Lingerie Selection has grown, designers from around the world have presented their collections to high-end boutiques and department stores and found support in our innovative and collaborative show.
Because there’s no such thing as too much fashion, I started freelance writing covering Fashion Week, industry events, and trend forecasting.
Increasingly, I’m also learning and sharing how to make the industry more sustainable and ethical because I genuinely believe that is the future of fashion. I love that through writing, I’m able to share my knowledge and enjoyment of fashion with others.
I now live in New York with my husband, our son, and Buster, the adorable Bedlington Terrier-a star in his own right who occasionally moonlights as a model in my lingerie catalogs and stole the show at our wedding as Best Dog.
